Maps
Maps by: Multimap, Google maps.
By Car
Coming west on the A4, you'll pass the following hotels on your right: Hotel Ibis, Holiday Inn Heathrow Ariel (white circular hotel), then three in a row: Sheraton Skyline, Marriott and then the Radisson Edwardian. Continue to the next traffic lights with a right turn and turn right into Boltons Lane (at the McDonalds). Turn right at the mini-roundabout into Mondial Way. The hotel is straight ahead and there's an entrance to the car park off the next mini-roundabout (the gates will open when you take a ticket). If you want the front of the hotel, turn right at the second roundabout and back up to the A4. Turn left and very shortly after turn left into the entrance of the hotel.
Coming east on the A4 from Slough and the M25, wait until you see the Renaissance Hotel ahead on your right (at Heathrow Airport) and a McDonalds on your left. The Radisson is the next big white building on your left (and clearly marked).
Parking is £5 per day.
By Public Transport
Tube (Piccadilly) or Heathrow Express train (Paddington) to Heathrow Airport (Terminals 1, 2, 3) and then get a (FREE) bus (105, 111, 140 or 285, 555, 556 and 557) from the Heathrow Central bus station to the hotel (it is within the free travel zone, so just tell the driver you're getting off at the Radisson and there will be no charge). When you see the McDonalds head on your left, ring the bell to get the bus to stop. Or you can take a taxi from the airport (expensive). Finally, the Hotel Hoppa bus service (H3) runs from the airport to the hotel (and to the Marriott and Sheraton) for £4 per person. The Hoppa buses run from approximately 5:30 to approximately 23:30.
From London Waterloo or from Reading, you take the train to Feltham Station and then get the 285 bus (towards Heathrow Airport) to the Radisson (not free). the 285 bus runs 24 hours a day, but the trains to/from Feltham end around midnight. Tubes may run a little later.
By Air
Important note: the proposed thread of strike action by BALPA (British Air Line Pilots Association) has been lifted.
Fly to Heathrow, follow Public Transport directions above. Or fly to Gatwick, Luton or Stansted and use the Heathrow transfer buses/trains and follow Public Transport directions above. Alternatively, if flying into Gatwick, take the train to Feltham, changing at Clapham Junction, then follow Public Transport directions above.
Note: There is no pedestrian access into or out of Heathrow Airport. However, the buses are free from the centre of the airport to the immediately-surrounding hotels. There is a bicycle route which you can use if you have brought a bicycle with you on your flight, or a folding bicycle on the tube/train.
Latest Travel Update
As of 12th March 2008...
Just to remind people that Easter is a very busy time on the roads, rail and air network and to leave plenty of time for travelling.
Flights into/out of Heathrow
The good news is that the British Airways pilots who were threatening to strike over Easter have postponed any strike action until after the convention. As reported in The Guardian
Tube
There are no planned tube works (according to the Transport for London website) that will affect tube trains in the Heathrow area.
Trains
SouthWestTrains (Waterloo to Feltham) will be running a modified Saturday service on the 21st (Friday), 22nd and 24th. Modified because all lines between Wimbledon and Clapham Junction are closed (not on the line to Feltham/Heathrow!) but trains may be diverted and make extra stops. They may also leave Waterloo at an earlier time than usual. Please leave extra time for your journey.
Buses
The H23 and H50 buses in the Heathrow area are being replaced by non "H" bus routes from the 22nd of March. No other planned bus route closures, but again probably a Saturday or Sunday service for the bank holidays.
Roads
Too many roads to check them all, so call the AA or similar closer to the time for latest information. Remember: the roads get very full with Bank Holiday traffic, even/especially on the Thursday before Easter. Leave plenty of time, and try not to get too stressed.
Other means of transport
Current wind conditions make use of balloons inadvisable, but the weather conditions for the convention can not be forecast at this point. Check with your coach operator about coach services. Landing your private jet at Heathrow will cost you vast amounts. Cheaper to land at a smaller airport and get a limousine for the rest of the journey.
Bicycle
No one has asked us about cycle parking; while we assume the hotel will have somewhere secure, it is best to contact the hotel directly and ask them.
